October Announcements From SAFF!Greetings! We hope you had a wonderful Summer!
Please read on for the September SAFF announcements. Greetings!![]() The Executive Director for SAFF - Joseph - was invited to spend the weekend at Lake Tahoe training nearly 100 foster parents and social workers from Sacramento on "HEALTH AND HAPPINESS: HEALING FROM GRIEF IN FOSTER CARE".
Says Joseph " I was so impressed with the quality of foster parents! And the racial diversity! Foster parents who are African-American, Hispanic, Asian, Middle Eastern, Caucasian.. we had a blast.. we dealt with the grief foster parents go through when a child is removed from their home for whatever reasons, conflict values between foster parents and the birth parents, and the education of youth in foster care, plus talk about SAFF's tutoring program and the Nevada Equine Assisted Therapy program SAFF partner's with. We had a blast! Then I got to perform a dramatic excerpt from the show I researched and perform about a foster teen in the Nevada State prison in 1942. And finally.. we had such a great time we spontaneously decided to put on the music and I taught them a family Middle Eastern/Eastern European dance! During the dance, I got to dance with a foster mom who held in her arms a child with a disability... what a celebration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
