BIG THANK YOU to Cindy, Kim, Mikie, Heather, George, Alice, Gloria for this wonderful support group!
THANK YOU UNITY CENTER FOR THE BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLIES... & also SERTOMA CLUB FOR THE BOOKS!
Once again, SAFF thanks the Unity Center of Reno for the 200 backpacks and school supplies we distributed on Saturday August 10.
The doors opened at 9 am and the happy crowd of children and teens - along with their foster/adoptive/birth parents entered the halls and gave us waves of happy energy!
Along with the backpacks and supplies, the youth were given books donated by the Sertoma Club and purchases at Grassroots Book Store.
A special gift was by Deputy Sheriff Bob Kahn who wrote 4 wonderfully illustrated books for children on how to protect oneself from abuse.
What a happy morning it was at the Unity Center!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU FOR THE FREE COMPUTERS
Over 40 youths received free computers on Saturday the 17th at St. John's Presbyterian Church in Reno.
The ladies of the church prepared a really delicious array of snacks while the Reno Cigars Lion's Club and the City of Reno Recreation Department put together 40 computers.
Our youth in foster, adoptive, and birth homes learned how to assemble the computers, program the software, use the computers for homework.. and then.. took them home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joseph was informed that the possibility of getting free computers to foster care youth in rural areas of Nevada is under discussion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FOSTER CARE SUPPORT GROUP
Joseph, the Executive Director of SAFF, was an honored guest at the exciting Foster Parent Support Group. What a joyous group of excellent foster and adoptive parents, as well as social workers!
The youth were busy cheering and cheering as they played in the bounce house. The adults and children enjoyed a delicious supper. Joseph spoke about SAFF's tutoring program, horse therapy with NEAT (yes, the kids get to ride the horses!), and exciting new projects and programs SAFF is creating with community organizations including UNR! Joseph presented backpacks to the parents to take home for the youth.
Cindy and Kim and Mikie and Heather and George have worked so diligently to make this support group fun, exciting, informative, and inspiring!
